For anyone visiting LA, or for those of you who live here but haven’t made the effort, Watts Towers should be at the top of your bucket list. If you can’t get there in person, Bud Goldstone and Arloa Paquin Goldstone’s The Los Angeles Watts Towers, is a great way to experience the towers and learn Rodia’s story. The book is richly illustrated with more than 100 color and b&w photos, including historic images of Rodia working on the towers.

Welcome to Offramp Online, an online art gallery with a twist. Exhibitions will be mounted online and work offered for sale, while actual events, such as openings, closings and artists’ talks, will be held at the artists’ studios. Studio visits to view the work will be scheduled by appointment for the duration of the show.

Since artists will be more actively partnering with Offramp Online, and the gallery’s overhead will be significantly less than that of a bricks-and-mortar gallery, artists will receive a larger percentage of the sales than the traditional 50/50 split.

Offramp Online will be built on Chafin’s existing online gallery and blog, Jane Chafin: Offramp. Features such as online-only group exhibitions, blog posts, Image of the Week, and the bookstore will remain in place.

Joining Chafin at Offramp Online as Chief Operating Officer will be her husband and partner, retired architect, Chaz Alexander.

Founder and director of Offramp Gallery from 2008-2016, Jane has been an artist, writer, and/or editor for most of her adult life. A former painter and museum registrar, Jane left Los Angeles for New York City in 1998 to pursue a career in journalism. She was editorial director of CultureFinder.com (an original AOL greenhouse project) and did freelance writing on the side. She returned to the Los Angeles area and opened Offramp Gallery in 2008. The gallery closed in 2016. She continued blogging, mounting online exhibitions and launched Offramp Online in the summer of 2017.
